DAM

DAM is a performance made in Istanbul (Turkey), at the Sultan Ahmet Park, in the very center of the old city, close to the Sultan Ahmet Mosque.

The performance consists in collecting all branches cut off from trees for the periodic pruning to build up a sort of dam cutting one of the path through the park and connecting a tree from one side of the walkway to a bush on the other side, covering meanwhile a bunch.

DAM is conceived as a sort of private happening, a casual activity the artist engages facing the unpredictability of the reality, trying to give it a shape conscious of the fact the the result of his work will not last for ever, on the contrary acquiring its own meaning and function during the little fragment of liveness it is participating to. Part of which is the artist's action itself and the gaze of the gardeners coming the day after to finish their job and clean away the brunches.
